My Background

The research shows that the relationship you have with your therapist is one of the most important things when determining success in therapy. It is important to feel comfortable with your therapist. In my private practice I work primarily with women and teens dealing with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and communication difficulties.

I can personally relate to these issues, which is something my clients really appreciate about working with me.
In my professional career I have worked in different settings to include Applied Behavioral Analysis, Home Visitation for Parent Skill Training and Early Childhood Development, Mental health counseling in a variety of settings to include Private Practice, Non-Profit, as well as Community Mental Health. I've also worked in the Non-Profit settings as a community organizer, providing free educational and social services to the local community.

Credentials

I received my Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and am licensed in the state of Virginia to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional and behavioral issues providing psychotherapy, counseling, and talk therapy to individuals and families. I also have obtained specialized training in trauma assessment and treatment through completing a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional credentialing program (CCTP).

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I also incorporate Art Therapy Techniques and Somatic Regulation Techniques into Therapy to those who accept the invitation.

I use an integrative approach, meaning that I will use a combination of therapeutic techniques depending on what you need. Because everyone is different!
